Over the one-month period to December 2025, the Pula depreciated by 1.6 percent against the South African rand. In contrast, the domestic currency appreciated by 1.1 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR). During the review period, the Pula appreciated by 2 percent against the Japanese yen, 1.8 percent against the US dollar, 0.5 percent each against the euro and Chinese renminbi, and 0.1 percent against the against the British pound.

Meanwhile, over the twelve-month period to December 2025, the Pula depreciated by 5.7 percent against the South African rand and appreciated by 1.7 percent against the SDR. Against SDR constituent currencies, the Pula appreciated by 7 percent against the Japanese yen, 6.7 percent against the US dollar and 1.8 percent Chinese renminbi. However, it depreciated by 5.4 percent against the euro and 0.5 percent against the British pound.
