The Pula depreciated by 1.6 percent against the South African rand and appreciated by 0.9 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR) over the one-month period to April 2021. The Pula appreciated against all other SDR constituent currencies, except the euro against which it depreciated by 0.9 percent. It appreciated by 2.4 percent against the US dollar, 1 percent against the British pound, 0.9 percent against the Chinese renminbi and 0.7 percent against the Japanese yen.

Over the twelve months period to April 2021, the nominal Pula exchange rate depreciated by 12.2 percent against the South African rand and appreciated by 5.6 percent against the SDR. Against the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula appreciated by 13.5 percent against the Japanese yen, 11.1 percent against the US dollar and 1.8 percent against the Chinese renminbi, while it depreciated by 0.6 percent against the British pound and 0.4 percent against the euro.
