The Pula appreciated by 0.6 percent against the South African rand and depreciated by 0.9 percent against the IMF Special Drawing Rights (SDR) over the one-month period to December 2022. It depreciated by 3.7 percent against the Japanese yen, 2.2 percent against the euro, 2 percent against the Chinese renminbi and 0.1 percent against the British pound, while it appreciated by 0.6 percent against the US dollar.
Over the twelve months period to December 2022, the nominal Pula exchange rate depreciated by 2 percent against the South African rand and 3.5 percent against the SDR. Against the SDR constituent currencies, the Pula depreciated by 8.1 percent against the US dollar and 2.3 percent against the euro, while it appreciated by 5.8 percent against the Japanese yen, 3 percent against the British pound and 0.5 percent against the Chinese renminbi.
