On August 23, 1976, the Bank of Botswana introduced the national currency, Pula and Thebe. This day came to be known as the Pula Day and is commemorated on August 23. The theme for 2022 is “MY CURRENCY, MY PRIDE”, and aims to raise awareness on the historical developments of our national currency.
